Transformers Legacy Evolution Comic Universe Voyager Tarn - Pictorial Review

It seems like Hasbro is not letting the TF Fans rest, despite there's only few days left till new year. When you thought that Haslab Victory Saber was supposed to be last, BOOM came Legacy Evolution, Wave 1.

For this wave, the most sought after are 2 release, Deluxe Breakdown (for obvious reason) and Voyager Tarn, which we'll be looking at now

Alt Mode

Tarn, named after one of the fallen cities, is the leader of the Decepticon Justice Division, appearing in the 2005 IDW continuity.

Just like the source material, Voyager Tarn transform into a cybertronian tank. It's safe to say that the base of the design is considerably accurate to the comic.

Transformers Haslab Victory Saber (Part 2) - Pictorial Review

Now, let us continue with the 2nd half of the release.

Victory Leo, the reformatted God Ginrai.

Part 1 of the review can be found here.

Victory Leo (Alt Mode 1)

The first alt mode for Victory Leo, the jet. The overall design is spot on. But it's not like the source material itself is complex.

Transformers Haslab Victory Saber (Part 1) - Pictorial Review

Finally got time to do the review of the latest (and my 3rd) Haslab after Unicron and ML Sentinel. Another must-have for me since the Japanese G1s are part of my collections.

Haslab Victory Saber was announced in 2021.

In Package

Moving away from the bland packaging of Unicron, Victory Saber box comes with a sleeve. On it are nicely done artwork of Victory Saber (outline), Star Saber and Victory Leo on the front and the toy image on the back.

It also comes with a cardboard poster foreshadowing Deszaras/Death Saurus release.

Good news, we're getting him next year. Congrats.

Hasbro Starting Lineup Series 1 Stephen curry - Pictorial Review

Next, we'll take a look at another Starting Lineup figure, the Golden Boy Stephen Curry, courtesy of Hasbro MY and Hasbro SG

Review of Starting Lineup LeBron James can be found here.

In Package

The starting lineup uses windowless box, much like other Hasbro recent releases, following their no-plastic packaging policy.

The printing on the box is really nicely done with premium look and finishing.

The box is compact and sturdy with additional outer brown box for extra protection.

Hasbro Starting Lineup Series 1 LeBron James - Pictorial Review

Finally my waiting ended, after debacle with the courier company. First would like to thank Hasbro Malaysia and Hasbro Singapore for reaching out to me a small time blogger.

Hasbro had announced at the end of September 2022, a new toyline, featuring 8 All-Star players of the NBA, namely Joel Embiid, Trae Young, Ja Morant, Lebron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Dončić, Jayson Tatum, and Stephen Curry.

I'll be reviewing the man the King James himself first.

Review for Starting Lineup Stephen Curry can be found here.

In Package

As were other Hasbro recent releases, he comes in a windowless box, continuing their policy of no-plastics packaging. While people like to debate the resulted packaging, the Starting Lineup box looks really good with highly detailed printing on the front and back of the box.

The box itself feels compact and not at all soft that you should be worried about damaging it. On top of that, it comes in a brown box for extra protection.

McFarlane DC Multiverse Speed Metal Dark Flash (Gold Label) - Pictorial Review

On and off, McFarlane slowly releasing characters from the Death Metal arc, this time, specifically Speed Metal. Presenting Dark Flash from the Dark Multiverse.

The figure is released as a Gold Label to which I'm still not really sure the distinction).

When it was first revealed, I'm thrilled to find out that there are 3 head variants for Dark Flash. It's fun hunting the variants (if you've made peace with McFarlane not including the alternate heads).

However so far, I still haven't seen the other variants anywhere in the market

Transformers Legacy Leader Class Dragon Megatron - Pictorial Review

I think this is a fairly awaited figure from Legacy. From my observation the appeal of Beast Wars characters not as good as the core G1 releases (by not much) but I've seen considerable interest for this.

With the release of BW Inferno, the original lineup for Predacons and Maximals are complete, understandable that they ventured further. But skipping Transmetal and going directly to Transmetal 2 seems a bit weird. Possibly due to 1) POTP already released his counterpart and 2) to venture farther away then 'another T-Rex' albeit it's not really the same.

Alt Mode

Personally I think Hasbro gave more attention in doing the BW characters in terms of detailing, more than characters from other series (the same case as MP). However, I'm still surprised by how good this turns out.

McFarlane MK11 Shadow of Spawn - Pictorial Review

My next McFarlane review, MK11 Shadow Of Spawn. I took a risk on this when the PO was online without the actual product image.

But from the MK11 list of skins for Spawn, it's clear that it will be a homage to classics Spawn deco

They've been lazy in terms of Spawn's MK11 packaging. Well, easier to throw the box away later.

McFarlane Megafig Omega Spawn - Pictorial Review

This is something that took quite a short time between reveal and release. And honestly, I don't enjoy the unplanned purchases. But looking at the first online image, yeah, this is right up my alley.

Presenting, Omega Spawn, one of the oldest Hellspawns.

Right of the bat..that's a waste of space. It obviously is. The box could've been shrunk down half the size which would've made shipping cost lower. Not to mention the storage space for those who's keeping the box.

Marvel Legends Retro Collection Apocalypse - Pictorial Review

As an X-Men Animated Series fan, I looked forward to this, considering I missed the previous release. Presenting, Apocalypse!

I remember one friend was telling me he had a hard time determining the size of the figure from online pic due to the card size.

Yes, the card is big!

Lightning Collection Zord Ascension Project (ZAP) Dragonzord (Z-0121) - Pictorial Review

This come as surprised as I didn't expect it to be released so soon after ZAP Megazord. However, it's a welcomed release. With the issues that ZAP Megazord had, people were debating whether Hasbro dropped the ball or it's just, what you'd called, first-release bad luck.

So let's see

In Package

Continuing the design and theme of the previous release, Dragonzord comes in a premium-ish box with gorgeous artwork at the front.

The box is smaller than that of Megazord and feels lighter. I'm not sure whether it's because of the size alone or Hasbro reduce the weight of the box

Transformers Takara MPG-02 Getsuei - Pictorial Review

It's been quite sometime since I review a Transformers figure so let's us see Takara latest release, MPG-02 Getsuei.

I had planned on reviewing the team since Shouki but there was an issue and I had to wait for quite sometime for the replacement. By the time I got him, don't really felt like doing review anymore

In Package

The box follows the same design as Shouki, also the size. So that helps in terms of storage. My box came with a damage side which surprised me given how much thicker Takara's carton box compared to Hasbro.

McFarlane DC Multiverse Black Adam (Black Adam Movie) - Pictorial Review

There's no point having Sabbac from Black Adam movie, if you don't have Black Adam himself. While I'm still contemplating the other 4 characters (depending on how the movie goes) Black Adam was a quick 'Yes', back when he was just revealed.

Although initially I was thinking of getting the hooded version but after seeing some issues with it, I opted for unhooded version.

Right out of the box, I'm fairly impress. The figure is beautifully sculpted.

Transformers Legacy Titan Class (Galaxy Force) Metroplex - Pictorial Review

It's time for the this year Titan. In my experience, he had a cold reception when it was revealed, almost the same as the Ark last year.

True, he may not be something for those who focused on G1 characters. But as a Titan, let's find out

In Package

In box, he's on the heavier side, compared to the Ark. The box art follows the theme of Legacy, with pictures of Kickback, BW Inferno (in pieces, of course) and what looks like Decepticon's ship, Nemesis. A hint?

3 Modes of Metroplex are shown. The less-popular mode, the "work" mode is shown in smaller size.

McFarlane Black Adam Movie Megafic Sabbac - Pictorial Review

Now for a figure that wasn't in my list

Sabbac, the supposed antagonist for the upcoming DC Black Adam movie (supposed as I don't know what's the plot of the movie)

McFarlane SDCC 2022 Megafig Manga Spawn - Pictorial Review

An unexpected purchase. A shop opened of "SDCC Spawn" without any pictures or details and before it was revealed by Todd. The PO was priced at normal figure and I thought, why not.

As luck would have it, it turns out to be a Megafig. And the seller honor the PO price, thanks seller.

Now, for one of the most unpopular Spawn figure revealed ever in the new line. Manga Spawn.

The most comments during the revealed was the striking and cheap-look blue color. And I would have to agree to some extend, a darker color or a darker shade of blue would've been better.

Make it simple, if you can't get past the color and the design, he's no longer your cup of tea. But if you're still okay, let's proceed.

Monday 1 August 2022

Lightning Collection Zord Ascension Project (ZAP) Dino Megazord (MZ-0101) - Pictorial Review

This is something a bit different than usual. Hasbro announced Zord Ascension Project Dino Megazord and people went mad. They had try-and-error release before, of Dino Megazord (simple version) and Zeo Megazord (non transforming), and while the reception was quite okay, the complain was that it's not at the level of adults collectors

The ZAP announced however, was really well received. In fact I'm curious why is it not under HasLab banner

Any who, let's see how good it is

In Package

The box really have a lot of weight to it, I kid you not. And the design is really premium, something that I don't usually see on Hasbro releases. In fact, I think it's better than Haslab Sentinel packaging.

McFarlane MK11 Commando Spawn - Pictorial Review

Next up, something that I really looked forward to, before the Covid fiasco.

I'm actually not sure yet, how will I draw the line for Spawn releases. How different is considered different?

Commando Spawn, another MK11 skin. I contemplated on on getting him when he was first announced but decided to just proceed.

And I was not disappointed. The aesthetic and overall feel of the figure is awesome.

Transformers Buzzworthy Deluxe Terrorsaur - Pictorial Review

Had a 2nd run in with Covid last week, slowly recovering again. Had few reviews pending, let's catch-up

We'll start with Buzzworthy Terrorsaur

One popular question. Why is it Buzzworthy Bumblebee line?

Don't know

For most, this was a chance to have a Terrorsaur in their display as (locally) there's a stock cut for the Golden Disk version and many were left without Terrorsaur.

Before pictures came out, people already aware that it will be toy deco. But now in hand, will it fit in?

Transformers Legacy Deluxe Class Tarantulas - Pictorial Review

Let's continue with our Legacy releases, this time with another Beast Wars character. Getting closer to the completion of the main Predacon, Tarantulas.

Alt Mode

First and foremost, he's not a retool of Blackarachnia. Clear!

The tarantula mode is solid, unlike Blackarachnia, without any loose parts.

Transformers Legacy Commander Class Motormaster - Pictorial Review

Finally back from holiday, got some time to write.

As far as 2022 goes, this is one of the most anticipated releases, seeing how far Hasbro has come since CW

In Package

The box following Legacy's theme of brightly colored neon artwork. No window but not surprising, it's a Commander Class.

McFarlane Deluxe Throne Spawn - Pictorial Review

When Deluxe Throne Spawn was revealed, there were mix feelings. While it is a nice throwback to the old McFarlane release, some thought that it's just another Spawn repaint. So, it is worth it?

Let's see

McFarlane DC Multiverse Endless Winter Aquaman - Pictorial Review

A step forward towards completing my Justice League, as a response to the Dark Knights of the Dark Multiverse. For my Aquaman, I opted for the Endless Winter version, even though knowing McFarlane, a clean-shaven Arthur will come out later down the line.

He's quite basic, comes with just a trident. But it's Aquaman, it's not like he should come with a fish. 2 things glaringly obvious. 1) is the soft-plastic trident where you can see minor bend and unevenness.

McFarlane Netflix Witcher Roach w/ Gunslinger Spawn - Gallery

A new addition to my Spawn lineup, borrowing outside of their line. Despite Todd revealing upcoming Gunslinger and horse combo, I think it's a hassle to sell back the previous Gunslinger and buying the new on.

So instead, I opted for Netflix Witcher's Roach. Not gonna do a full review, just few pictures.

McFarlane MegaFig Cygor - Pictorial Review

Another McFarlane release. Truth be told, he wasn't that high in my priority list, just thought buying him as part as the lineup.

Also, saw few reviewers complaint about him not able to stand upright and stuck in the gorilla pose. Let us see

First and foremost. The sculpt is great! Really impressive. Out of the box, you can feel the his weight, almost like handling Violator.

McFarlane She-Spawn w/ Batman Drifter Bike - Gallery

Not a full review, just sharing pictures of my She-Spawn using The Batman's Bruce Wayne drifter bike. Compatibility wise, it's almost perfect. But the hands are a bit too short so you need to try and pose her so that she can grab the handles.

The drifter bike comes with a helmet where the socket is standard size (as far as I know). However, for my She-Spawn, I can't detach the neck joint that's stuck to her head so I used 3D printed neck joint originally for Witcher's Geralt. If you're printing that, reduce the length a bit and you're good to go

McFarlane Deluxe She-Spawn - Pictorial Review

End of long holiday, business as usual.

Bought her for quite some time already but only had a chance to take pictures and reviewing her. No doubt, one of the most anticipated McFarlane releases recently

She-Spawn release as a Deluxe, with 2 assault rifles, sniper rifle, sword, axe and alternate hand (well, and the standard base)

Figure wise, she looks awesome. The detailing, head to toe is impressive. That's the first impression I got when I took her out of the tray.

Transformers Legacy Leader Class G2 Laser Optimus Prime

Been quite busy recently, can't seem to find time to take pictures despite having few new releases. But I think this deserves a review

So far, I've been avoiding Legacy releases (core, deluxe, voyager) and I intended to do the same about him. But I figured I try and give him a chance

In Package

The artwork is gorgeous and very 80s-neon poster vibes. The box is just like recent SS86 Leader where it doesn't have a window. But unlike SS86, the box itself is made out of more solid material

Transformers Studio Series Bumblebee Movie SS-82 Ratchet

Moving on to the last of the trio. Thinking out loud, it's funny that this is the first normal release Ratchet that's easily available, locally, for quite some time. Siege Ratchet was imported by Toy R Us here, at higher price point. And the only way for us to get the Galactic Odyssey Ratchet was to import from US.

Alt Mode

I'd say he is a Cybertronian truck.. Yeah let's go with that

Transformers Studio Series Bumblebee Movie SS-81 Wheeljack

Continuing on, the next figure that we'll look into, Wheeljack.

Transformers Studio Series Bumblebee Movie SS-80 Brawn

Let's go ahead an see some of the releases that were quite hyped, from the Studio Series Bumblebee Movie line. We'll start with Brawn

To recap, while Bumblebee movie itself was a decent attempt, compared to the 2 movies prior, everyone would agree that the opening Cybertronian war is epic. Since then fans had been hoping for these reimagined G1 characters to be released.

McFarlane Soul Crusher - Pictorial Review

Haven't had the time to take pictures due to being busy with work things. Gotten quite a few new stuff from McFarlane and Transformers since then.

For this round, let us do McFarlane Soul Crusher

I honestly don't know much about this character, aside from some online reading.
