Transformers Studio Series Bumblebee Movie SS-81 Wheeljack

Continuing on, the next figure that we'll look into, Wheeljack.

Alt Mode

Maybe it's the deco, or maybe the car design, but I can't help but feel there's influence of TF Prime Wheeljack to this figure. The overall car design is futuristic and sleek. The deco is nicely done on the hood of the car and some on the sides. The color, as you can see, is off-white, the usual color Hasbro frequently used for their white figure.

From the side however, he's a bit 'compact'. Not a issue, just pointing it out. Just like Brawn, his gun can be attached on top, more securely this time.

Not terrible, I must say. The design and paint app on Wheeljack are nicely done. The alt mode pegs together securely but the translucent windscreen does worry me a bit. It is advisable to be careful when pushing the windscreen down when trying to peg it.

Size wise, he's roughly the same as Bumblebee and Cliffjumper. Again, looking at these, Wheeljack feels like a 'proper' Cybertronian car.

Robot Mode

First impression? Short and bulky. Not how I usually pictured Wheeljack. Nitpick. Nevermind.

Again I can't help but feel the vibe of TF Prime Wheeljack here but that's not a bad thing. The mix between G1 and Movie-verse design was done well here. It really works.

He's mostly white and grey plastics with most of the deco is on his chest, and some on his shins. Painted nicely without smudges.

Again the figure is clean. No huge kibble hanging on his back and minimal panels under his forearms and legs.

Transformation wise is quite simple and straight forward. The figure holds together nicely without any parts falling off. The headsculpt is nicely done, capturing the movie design.

Articulation wise, he's just like Brawn, which is good. On mine, there might be some excessive plastic at the neck socket that hindered some of its movement. Joint wise, it's the same as Brawn with some looseness on his hip joints. Easily fixable.

The hollow parts? It's expected, here and there.

He's just a tiny bit taller than Bumblebee and Cliffjumper, not really obvious.

Out of the 3 new releases, I think Wheeljack is my least favourite. But not due to the quality or design as it's adequately made, in my opinion
