Transformers Studio Series Bumblebee Movie SS-80 Brawn

Let's go ahead an see some of the releases that were quite hyped, from the Studio Series Bumblebee Movie line. We'll start with Brawn

To recap, while Bumblebee movie itself was a decent attempt, compared to the 2 movies prior, everyone would agree that the opening Cybertronian war is epic. Since then fans had been hoping for these reimagined G1 characters to be released.

Alt Mode

The best I can put a name on Brawn's alt mode would be an Cybertronian off-road vehicle. He has a drill attached to the front and a gun mounted on top.

The alt mode is quite solid and you'll find no loose parts aside from the gun. It seems the size of the peg or the hole is off quite a bit

The overall design is really nice and painted nicely, something you don't really see with recent Hasbro releases. The color choice screams Brawn. The placement works and doesn't look awkward or weird.

Size wise, he's less wide than Cybertronian Bumblebee/Cliffjumper. Looking at it, he does have better detailed than the other two.

Robot Mode

It's refreshing to see a properly proportioned movie figure. Don't get me wrong, Bay-verse, even with its shortcomings, have a place in my heart but breaking out of the insect-face, alien-body designs is more than welcomed.

One thing I have to mention first. The joint on the hips are loose and the peg on his back can't really hold the gun.

Okay moving on. This figure really captures the onscreen design of Brawn. The color placement is nicely done, the head sculpt is no doubt of Brawn.

The overall design is clean, without panels hanging on his back, as with most Studio Series movie figures. The transformation is fairly simple but hey, if it works, then why not.

Articulation wise, he's leaps and bounds better than Bay-verse Studio Series movie figures, following current basic articulation standards. Aside from the joint on his hips, he's a sturdy figure.

The handheld drill (or something) can be attached to his gun and yes, joint can cater for the weight so he can wield his weapon without issue.

With his fellow Minibots, Bumblebee and Cliffjumper. Size wise, he fits well but I can't help but think, Bumblebee and Cliffjumper design is quite outdated and still have Bay-verse influence, in terms of them being some sort of a shellformer, with a lot of panels around, especially on their back.

But to be fair, Bumblebee had both his Cybertronian alt mode and robot mode shown in the movie so the designer had to follow. But for Brawn, his alt mode wasn't in the movie. It's possible that the designer had more room creatively, to design alt mode for Brawn that would work with his robot mode.

Purely speculation, not based on any 'insider info'
