Maketoys MTCM-03 Quantron - Pictorial Review

I think it's about time I finished Maketoys Quantron reviews, after taking quite a long time doing one members at a time.

Pic Credit : TFWiki

Computron is the combined form of Autobot's Technobots, created by Grimlock in the G1 episode, Grimlock's New Brain. Recognized as the arch nemesis of Abominus, Computron counter the brute force of the Terrorcons with his lightspeed computational power.

Computron has 2 default configurations that are frequently used by the fans. One is following his cartoon/comic edition with Afterburner as the right hand and Strafe as his left while the second configuration is the opposite.

Fun Fact. Since the Decepticons are known as Destrons in the Japanese market with changes such as Combatron and Stuntron, Computron is known as Computicon in keeping with the naming convention used there.

Maketoys MTCM-03 [Quantron] Metalstorm - Pictorial Review

Now, let us get back to Quantron. This will be last review before the grand finale, Quantron himself. Metalstorm (Not-Scattershot) is the leader of the Technobots and one of my favorite G1 characters.

Pic Credit : TFWiki

Scattershot is a triple-changer that was created by Grimlock and appointed to lead the Technobots to counter the threat of the Terrocons. During the first part of The Rebirth, Scattershot was the one made out the 100 "blips" heading for them while he was manning the radar screen at the Autobot City. During the Decepticons assault, Scattershot used his rarely-seen 3rd mode, a cannon.

Maketoys MTCM-03 [Quantron] Blindfire - Pictorial Review

The last of Quantron's limbs, before we move on to Metalstorm (Not-Scattershot) and finally, Quantron (Not-Computron) himself. Sorry for the delay as there are too much on my plate right now, hopefully will be able to settle all pending reviews in a week or two.

Strafe was created alongside the other Technobots by the [temporarily] genius Grimlock from components found within Unicron's head. Strafe was the first to show what he can do, given task by Grimlock to disable Unicron's internal defenses.

It's obvious that Blindfire has the simplest transformation of all the five. However, that's not particularly a bad thing.

Maketoys MTCM-03 [Quantron] Celeritas - Pictorial Review

We are now on the 3rd member of Maketoys' Not-Technobots, Celeritas. Just FYI, celeritas is a Latin word, translated as "speed", referring to his G1 character, Lightspeed.

Pic Credit : TFWiki

Created alongside with the rest of the Technobots, Lightspeed was the one who took charge leading Afterburner and Nosecone on a rescue mission to save Strafe and Scattershot using cross-fire strategy against Terrorcon Hun-Grr.

Maketoys MTCM-03 [Quantron] Sonic Drill - Pictorial Review

Next, review of Quantron's Sonic Drill, Maketoys take on G1 Nosecone.

No, I'm articulated!
Pic Credit : Web

For those who didn't know, before there are Technobots, there's only Nosecone. He was the first to be built by Grimlock in an attempt to counter the Terrocons and save the Autobots. With his help, the temporarily-intelligent  Grimlock managed to create the last G1 Autobot Combiner team (at least in G1 US Cartoon).

Based on the number of the transformation sequence, Sonic Drill seems to be more complicated than Overheat. And he is!

Maketoys MTCM-03 [Quantron] Overheat - Pictorial Review

It's been quite sometime since I last reviewed Maketoys releases and I never had a chance to review their first combiner, Giant.

Now, moving on to their 2nd combiner (3rd if you count yellow Giant), MTCM-03 Quantron (Not-Computron). We'll start with Overheat, MT version of Afterburner. Brief background of the character and review of Warbotron version of Afterburner can be found here.

The full box picture will be updated later (or included in the review of the last component).

For other Quantron's team members, the reviews can be found below :

Maketoys MCB-001 Armageddon Add On Kit - Pictorial Review

First of all, for a brief history of the character, please go to the link below:-

Planet X Genesis Pictorial Review

This review is a courtesy of X2OToys, thank you! Moving on..

Back in 2013, Hasbro released Platinum Edition Year of the Snake (YOS) Omega Supreme, a redeco/retool of Energon Omega Supreme based on War For Cybertron version of Omega Supreme. Despite having a new head and a massive, articulated claw arm, he is still seen far away from being the 'perfect' Omega Supreme by the fans.

Enter Maketoys! In the same year, Maketoys announces their new project, MCB-001 Armageddon Add On Kit to enhance the look of YOS Omega Supreme.

Maketoys Manga Mech Series Trash-Talk & Cogwheel - Pictorial Review

Here's another review made possible by our sponsor,  X2OToys , Maketoys [Manga Mech Series] Trash-Talk (Not Swerve) and Cogwheel (Not-Gears).

http://x2otoys.com/

Swerve is one of those characters that was made popular again after quite sometime. Made his debut in Transformers G1 cartoon series and had almost limited screen times with few notable appearance in G1's Five Faces of Darkness and Forever Is A Long Time Coming. Aside from those, Swerve hardly ever appear again. However, in IDW G1 continuity, Swerve is one of the frequent casts, appearing in a lot of the episodes.

Gears on the other had, was a familiar face in Generation 1 cartoon series. Although he's one of the original crew of the Ark, Gears was involved in seldom involved in the battle due to his non-combatant nature (or maybe he just doesn't really care much about earth in general).

Gears was also featured in other continuities such as Dreamwave Generations 1, G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers and most recently, IDW Generation 1 where he joined Rodimus as the crew of the Lost Light, on a mission to find the Knights of Cybertron.

Maketoys MT-03 HyperNovae - Pictorial Review

First and foremost, this review wouldn't be possible without the help of a dear friend, who's kind enough to lend me this figure, one of my favorite characters in Transformers

Pic Credit : Web
Presenting, one of the most graceful Transformers out there, Nova Prime, predecessor to Nominus Prime. Back then in Cybertron, there was another big war being fought, long before Optimus Prime/Megatron time, ended in the hand of Nova Prime. With the end of Chaos, Nova ventures to Cybertron's underground with his closest comrades and advisors, Jhiaxus, Galvatron, Cyclonus and Dai Atlas, to find the Guiding Hand.

World with no factions

Even with the purest of intention, Nova Prime slowly drift away, believing more than he should, on the prophecy of "All Shall Be One" , planning the Expension to enslave all lifeforms under his empire. Running out of time when Vector Sigma's flow of new sparks ceased, Nova Prime and his team boarded the Ark to start the Expension.

Nemesis Prime

Nova Prime discovered a portal while on their way to the Benzuli Expanse and, blinded by his greed and pride, went into the portal to the Dead Universe and never be seen again. Not as Nova Prime

Pic Credit : Web
Nova Prime was actually a concept design made for Optimus Prime by Don Figueroa but the toy never seen the light of day. However, there was a company that produced this design and if not mistaken, only 2 figures exist (1 design, 2 variants)

Knowing what the fans want, Maketoys took the liberty of [mass] releasing the first Not-Nova Prime figure, dubbed MT-03 HyperNovae

Maketoys Mobine Series - Paladin/Chaos Pictorial Review

Been on a hiatus for quite some time already (doing review, not buying stuff, LOL) so I thought that this would be a good time to start off again. Been married and living in a new house for a month and a half now, setup my temporary photoshot set yesterday. Do let me know what you think about it.

Now, for something that's been in my hands for almost a month but before that, some introduction is in order.

Many of the mass audiences might remember the antagonist from the 2009's Live Action Movie, Revenge of the Fallen which was....The Fallen, the alien-like, kinda old, boring color who have to gave "his face" at the end movie. However, let us turn our attention the the other The Fallen (because honestly, the movie version sucks!), one of my favourite character, as told in Dreamwave's War Within Continuity.

Ancient Spirit of Evil! (LOL)
Pic Credit : Web

The Fallen (also known as Megatronus by some, inspiring Megatron's name) originated as one of the first 13 Transformers created by Primus during the long battle with Unicron, in-charge of overseeing destructions and rebirth. However, more enticed by the former than the latter, The Fallen slowly drifted away into the darkness, bringing him to Unicron and betrying his creator.

An attempt to sabotage his creator resulted him and his new master trapped for what seems to be forever.... Millions of years later, after a Space Bridge accident which caused Optimus Prime and Megatron to be lost, The Fallen returns, with Unbinding ceremony in his mind

Unbinding is a process of opening The Seal of Primus which required four Cybertronians, representing different angles of the Geometry of Dissolution. The said Cybertronians are Grimlock, Jetfire, Blitzwing and Hotspot

The Fallen VS Grimlock
Pic Credit : Web
The purpose of Unbinding is for Cybertron to be located by Unicron in which he did as evidenced by 1986's Transformers The Movie. Although successful, the distraction made by Jetfire gave Primus himself enough time to manifest and casting The Fallen into the Seal of Primus which forms anew.

The Not-Combiners

It's a cruel time for Transformers collectors, it really is. Generations 3.0 has given us a promising debut with the releases of awesome characters especially Titan Class Metroplex. However, one thing that still lacking, the Combiners, where up until now, there's still no news of HasTak taking the wheel on this and delivering fair combiners to the fans. And so, we turn to 3rd Party companies. After the succesfull release of many ie Fansproject Crossfires, Maketoys Giant, TFC Hercules and Uranos, more combiners are shoved to us ie Maketoys Not-Computron, MMC Feral Rex (Not-Predaking), another from TFC yet to be named and of course, Fansproject Not-Menasor as apart of the Causality line.

Take note that there's 2 scale of combiners, one being the TFC's scale where we have Uranos, Hercules and MMC's Feral Rex. The other one being Fansproject Crossfires (Not-Bruticus and Not-Superion), Maketoys Giant and Not-Computron, etc. I choose the larger ones being that for combiners, I opt to the biggest scale available.

Reference, not accurately scaled

*Wishing for more combiners in TFC's scale*
