Hasbro Starting Lineup Series 1 LeBron James - Pictorial Review

Finally my waiting ended, after debacle with the courier company. First would like to thank Hasbro Malaysia and Hasbro Singapore for reaching out to me a small time blogger.

Hasbro had announced at the end of September 2022, a new toyline, featuring 8 All-Star players of the NBA, namely Joel Embiid, Trae Young, Ja Morant, Lebron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Dončić, Jayson Tatum, and Stephen Curry.

I'll be reviewing the man the King James himself first.

Review for Starting Lineup Stephen Curry can be found here.

In Package

As were other Hasbro recent releases, he comes in a windowless box, continuing their policy of no-plastics packaging. While people like to debate the resulted packaging, the Starting Lineup box looks really good with highly detailed printing on the front and back of the box.

The box itself feels compact and not at all soft that you should be worried about damaging it. On top of that, it comes in a brown box for extra protection.

The figure and accessories are packed in separate compartments, a proper one like the Zoid Ascension Projects (rather than just folded brown cardboard).

The stand is a stationary stand where you can't adjust the height. While it limits the usage, it proves to be sturdier and hopefully, last longer. The material used is thick and is able to withstand the weight of the figure without any problem. There are 2 pegs on the base to attach the figure to.

While the claw is fixed, it can be rotated 360 degree at the peg. The claw itself is not the same size as the one included  with Stephen Curry where it is bigger. It might not be clear in the picture but the one that comes with LeBron is marked '6' while Stephen Curry's is '4' (I'm assuming the number will be used based on the figure size)

The figure comes with a Panini NFT Trading Card inside a protective sleeve with the player's stats on the back for his height, weight, D.O.B, team etc.

There are also rarer red, green or blue versions of the cards in the market. Happy hunting.

Now, the figure, LeBron James himself.

He comes with 3 additional hands and another with molded basketball on it.

The face sculpt is nicely done and I think no one would mistaken this for anyone.

The overall details are well-done, top to bottom. The paint apps are clean without any smudges and the color really pops up.

Even the shoes are properly design instead of generic feet colored as such.

Like recent Marvel Legends releases, the joints are pinless, giving him a cleaner look. What surprises me the most was the jersey is a separate piece with the body underneath. That's cool despite the body is plain (as far as I can see)

As far as articulation goes, he's what you can expect from Hasbro's 6" line. And that's a good thing, compared to, say, NECA and McFarlane.

And yes, he does come with thigh swivels, underneath the pants.

I get the decision to give the hand that's molded with the basketball as it works in most poses but an additional ball wouldn't hurt.

The claw's opening suited the figure's body size so you can grip him almost perfectly, either below the chest below waistline.

The stand is sturdy enough for the figure that it won't bend.

Size wise, LeBron is 6.5" which makes him significantly taller than Steph Curry, as he should be

Even taller than Marvel Legends VHS Cyclops (which is considered quite tall in ML). The color is slightly more vibrant for Cyclops due to it being animation-based.

I'll be honest, NBA is not really my cup of tea, but LeBron is a popular-enough for me to know him. From my experience with other Hasbro 6" figure, I can say the joints and paint apps are nicely done. The overall sculpts are well-made and a great representation of LeBron James

The line will be released worldwide on December 1, 2022, retailed at MYR269.90/ SGD99.90/  USD49.99.
