Moving on to the 2nd Beast release of SS ROTB, Cheetor. Just revisiting Beast Wars, personally for me Cheetor was the Bumblebee of the series. Had always loved his character's growth and arcs.
In Package
From the artwork, it's obvious SS Cheetor is different than ROTB mainline Cheetor (in a good way).
Alt Mode
A beautiful mechanical cheetah. The designer did good translating Cheetor's alt mode for the silver screen.
Cheetor comes in light brown and some grey parts. The detailing is nicely done and the robot parts are hidden pretty well (aside from the robot's fist)
Transformation is different from the standard Kingdom Cheetor blueprint, especially the hind legs.
Articulation wise, he's a bit limited though. More unfortunate, the way the front legs tabbed made him losses that particular articulation, aside from on the knees.
He comes with 2 spears that can be stored on his back.
Size comparison with Kingdom Deluxe Cheetor |
Robot Mode
SS ROTB Cheetor, in all his glory!! Seriously, this is a cool design. Unlike Airazor who still look like Kingdom Airazor, Cheetor's design blend the mechanical and biological almost perfectly.
The spears are good weapon choice for him, rather than the 'tail whip' used in Kingdom.
From the back, he's quite clean but a bit plain, aside from some dotted pattern on the back of his body.
The detailing in robot mode is good with almost no design cue taken from previous Cheetor. Well....the headsculpt does look a bit like Beast Machines version. And I have a feeling he will be repurposed into a new Beast Machine Cheetor.
Articulation wise, he's fun to pose with good joints quality. The weapons are in tune with his aesthetics and design.
The 2 spears can be combined into a long spear/long staff.
I can't get over how effective the weapons are.
Please note this is not to compare the size (it's Voyager VS Deluxe). I think Hasbro made a lot of good choices for this Cheetor. The light brown color VS yellow, the head sculpt, the weapons and to not have the cheetah head on his chest.
SS ROTB Cheetor is a figure that warms up to you after a while. At first he may seems bland but trust me, fiddle with him more an you'll see.
