Q-Transformers QT-02 Bumblebee and QT-08 Bumble - Pictorial Review

Just for fun, I'm doing a review of a new Japan Transformers line, Q-Transformers, that was launched late 2014.

Q-Transformers is, in a way, a continuation of Choro-Q line and exhibit similar design of super-deformed characters that transform into fully licensed vehicles.

The cartoon series, Q-Transformers : Mystery of Convoy Returns was released in support of the toyline and also a mobile game under the same name.

The first wave was released on December 26th, 2014, consisting 8 characters which are
  • QT-01 Optimus Prime (Western Star 4900 SB Tractor)
  • QT-02 Bumblebee (2014 Camaro Concept)
  • QT-03 Lockdown (Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4)
  • QT-04 Crosshairs (Chevrolet Corvetter C7)
  • QT-05 Lamborghini Countach LP500S)
  • QT-06 Prowl (Nissan Fairlady Z-280Z-T)
  • QT-07 Hot Rodimus (Toyota 86)
  • QT-08 Bumble (Daihatsu Copen)

In Package

QT-02 Bumblebee

QT-02 Bumblebee is one of 2 Bumblebee characters released under the first wave.

The packaging uses movie-theme design as well as characters with Transformers : 30 Years logo on the top left.

QT-08 Bumble

Although from the same wave, the second Bumblebee, QT-08 (dubbed Bumble), is packed differently from QT-02 Bumbleebee.

Bumble comes in G1-theme packaging with G1 Sideswipe and Prowl at the top.

Both doesn't come with any biocards or anything and the only instructions is as above.

Alt Mode

QT-02 Bumblebee

QT-02 Bumblebee transform is a movie-verse version of the character that transform into a super deformed 2014 Camaro Concept  car.

Despite the size, the detailing is quite good with painted rims and backlight, and unlike Bot Shot, nothing pops out when you hold him.

QT-08 Bumble

I don't quite understand Bumble though. Since Bumblebee's alt mode is 2014 Camaro following the movie-verse, it's weird that Bumble transform into super deformed Daihatsu Copen.

Bumble's painthjob in alt mode is really good with great detailing from front to the back.

Comparison

Personally, I prefer Bumble more than Bumblebee as the detailing looks better. However, the car model used for Bumble is a bad choice.

If you are wondering how small they are, this is the size comparison with Classics Bumblebee.

Robot Mode

QT-02 Bumblebee

Never really paid much attention to Q-Transformers before and was surprised how cute they are, haha. The transformation is REALLY simple, just like in the 'instruction'. To my disappointment, the head sculpt is poorly done, doesn't really look like movie-verse Bumblebee.

Bumble however, comes with a better head sculpt and a good homage to his G1 character.

Quality of both figures are quite okay except that the ball joint on the hips are quite loose.

The sculpted cannon on Bumblebee's right arm makes him the only figure in the line (so far) that comes with a weapon.

Articulation-wise, nothing much can be expect from this lines aside from few simple poses. But, honestly, who'd expect good posebility from them? They come with swivel joint on the head, ball-jointed shoulders, swivel on the elbows, ball-jointed hips and knees.

Comparison

Go back to school!!!

Just to add, QT-02 was also released as exclusives, dubbed QT-02E. One version was sold in Transformers Expo, in less orange-shade of yellow while the other was in clear plastic, a Toys'R'Us Japan give-away.
