Belated New Year (and belated haul)

We've been in 2015 for more than 20 days now. Really love the releases planned for this year especially the new Combiner Wars line.

Also preparing for this year TFSS 3.0 as unlike previous years, all of the mold are CHRUG variants which means I'll be getting all of them. 2015 Botcon theme has been announced but we have yet to see any character plan for it. But I'm estimating the use of Orion Pax (if not this year, maybe next year) and also few more using last year Generation figures.

As of now, most of my pre-2015 releases has been completed, just a few more to go than I can just start at current and future releases

Henkei
Dinobot (Henkei)
Cheetor (Henkei)

United
Perceptor (United)

Takara Generations
Orion Pax (Takara Generations)
IDW Megatron (Takara Generations)
Rhinox (Takara Generations)

TFCC/TFSS
TFCC Shattered Glass Drift

Kup (Autobot Warriors Set)

The road so far~

I'm in the middle of finishing my Generations Windblade review however still haven't finish doing her alt mode [finish the In Package and Alt Mode portions] so a few more hours delay I guess, sorry for that.

Aside from that, I'm planning to do MMC Talon [without combine mode, waiting for Tigris and do full review], maybe Age Of Extinction Rollbar from the Breakout Battle set. Was also thing whether or not I should do Age Of Extinction TRU Japan Exclusive Rusty Evasion Mode Optimus Prime and the rest of the new Generations releases (Jhiaxus, Crosscut, Nightbeat)

On separate note, quite proud of my archivement for now

Still few months till Black-Plastic-Life 2nd Anniversary. Thanks for the support

Transformers Age Of Extinction - Just some thoughts

Watched the premier of Transformers Age of Extinction with fellow TransMYian on June 25th and wasn't disappointed to be honest. But to make it clear, I'm not a Bayformers fanboy not am I a hardcore Geewuner. Been enjoying all thing Transformers from all the series, the comic books (IDW, Marvel, Dreamwave) and few other medias.

Pic Credit: Web

Never intended to write anything about it but stumble upon a review that shockingly gave AoE some 'harsh' critiques which to me only partially true and the best part, putting something like

" 'I'm also quite sure the old-time fans would be disappointed with bla bla bla "
This won't be a proper review, just few points I like to let out. Let us begin but first, MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!

Negative
1 - The movie is quite too long for my taste, nearing 3 hours. Felt that some parts can either be excluded or compacted

2 - Galvatron is one of favourite character in Transformers universe, but Bay should've at least waited a bit as Megatron has been dead and brought back to life for quite few times already. TF5 maybe?

3 - Hate the new Decepticons way of transforming

Positive
1 - Human characters aren't as annoying as the previous 3. Mark Wahlberg played his character well. AoE changed the movie franchise from spastic comedy party into having more mature atmosphere.

2 - More robot screen time!

3 - Better storyline than the previous 3 and it seems Bay did some homework this time. In case people are wondering, here are some homages that could be found in the movie

  • Flat-cab truck that Optimus Prime transform into in the beginning of the movie is a homage to Generation 1 Optimus Prime
  • Lockdown role as a bounty hunter, just like when he debuted in Transformers universe during Animated.
  • The resurrection of Megatron is based on the storyline of TF Animated where he trick Dr Sumdac into building his new body.
  • Having the Dinobots fossilized reminded me of IDW Spotlight : Shockwave. Hope there'll be detail explanation of why the Dinobots were there in the first place.
  • The alliance with Dinobots was nicely done. Personally, better than it was in G1 and Animated
  • The human-created Transformers reminded me of the fate of Sunstreaker in IDW Devastation series.
  • The 'creator' that was mentioned by Lockdown might end up end up with 2 possibilities. (1), the Quintesson or better yet, (2) Unicron [and be default, hopefully, Primus]
  • The first time in the franchise that the story heading somewhere, a bigger arc. Rodimus and the cast of 86 maybe?

Transformers Movie franchise was never 'phenomenal' from the start. There are ok parts and some bad parts. However, found out that AoE currently being targeted with thoughtless reviews which is kind of weird. However, as the fan of Transformers Franchise (not just someone who suddenly knows everything about Transformers after watching the 4 live action movies ie "his childhood"), I find that AoE is better than what I expected.

I get that people say not all reviewers a fan of a certain franchise etc. True, there's a lot of reviewers know Transformers from the movies only, no more. However, I would've been better if they some homework just to have a basic idea. Why? Because they are reviewer. Is it right if I reviewed a Generations figure then complaint there is no die-cast parts? If you decide to do a review of anything, there must be at least some knowledge of it.

Let say I watch a love story which ends with both the main characters died, no happy ending. Is it right if I say it sucks and a stupid movie when it's an adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet"?

My biggest haul to date!

It's been a long 5 days, too tired to do anything, having no more than 4 hours sleep each day. But it was worth it!

My princess was born on April 20th, 2.55 am (+8.00 GMT) and both baby and mommy are safe. Couldn't be happier than this

A new milestone

I've been collecting 'full time' for just about 5-6 years now and have lost count on how many time I've been asked about my rule of collecting. Well, I've had quite a few actually

1 - Once I only collect Hasbro version of CHURG molds.
2 - Bend that rule when I started collecting any Takara version of CHURG molds that were repainted into a new character, like Henkei Strafe from Cyclonus mold
3 - Bend the rule again when I made exception due to 3rd Pary releases. For example, I went for both Henkei and Classics Optimus Prime due to the release of FP DIA Commander, bought both Henkei and RTS Bumblebee to be used with Not-Bumper and Not-Hubcap MGS add on.
4 - Also bend the rule when I went for a repetitive release of the same character when the repaints are good like e-Hobby Decepticon Set where I've already had all the 3 mold (Hasbro version)
5 - Went ahead and start collecting Botcon and TFCC figures if they are using CHURG molds
6 - Due to the fact that with all of this 'exception', I ended up having at least 70%-90% of the variants for each mold, leaving behind only Henkei/United version of the molds
7 - Ended up deciding to collect every single variants ever (officially) release of CHURG molds

Quite happy thinking that I've almost completed pre-2014 releases of CHURG mold

Midnight Express~

Finished my long overdue review of Planet X's Genesis, maybe will be taking some normal stuff after this.

Was surprised to see that my Photobucket links are down due to fact that I exceeded the bandwith usage. Was MORE surprised that I reached the 16000 mark during last weekend.

Thank you all for the support! My hedgehog bid thee goodnight

New Chapter

It's been awhile since I updated my blog. It's has been almost 3 weeks that I've become a husband, can't believe that it finally happened and I'm as happy as I can ever be

Family Picture

For years I've been focusing on the Neo-G1 line and I'm proud to own what I owned now.

Received Universe 2.0 Starscream from a dear friend as a wedding gift, completing my Starscream variants. However, I'm still far behind in completing the seekers mold, still looking for Thundercracker and Skywarp's variants

Completed my Onslaught's mold with Henkei Onslaught. Still looking for Henkei Powerglide and Wal-Mart Exclusive Powerglide. My completed molds are

1- Optimus Prime (7 Variants, not including Lucky Draw and Unreleased)
2- Silverbolts (3 Variants)
3- Jetfire (5 Variants)
4- Inferno (7 Variants)
5-Onslaught (4 Variants)
6- Warpath (2 Variants, excluding Strika)
7- Rodimus (8 Variants)
8- Astrotrain (2 Variants)

Still looooong way to go. Got around 7 new Henkeis coming in 2-3 months, with that, Hotshot and Sideswipe will be complete

Damn, 2013 is the Revival of Generations year, must survive this!

PS : I luv my wife

The gimmicks!

In Transformers, there's a handfull of characters with gimmicks that will always be something the fans looked forward to, like Gestalts, Multi-changers (Triple Changer, Six Changer, etc), City Bots, Headmaster, Powermaster and Brainmaster.

Believe it or not, proper execution of these characters is consider are quick win for the fans. 3rd party dove into the gestalt's arena and almost all (ALMOST) releases hit the fan hard (financially)

Fansprojects and HasTak (recently back in the game) tackled some Triple Changers which I see are quite sought after, not to mention the next Not-Sixshot, a Six-Phasers.

Headmaster, Powermaster and Brainmaster are 3 gimmicks that were used widely in the Japanese G1 series of Headmasters, Masterforce and Victory. HasTak basically haven't even touch the surface of these in their Neo-G1/Classics releases which fans (me) turned to 3rd party companies.

The best of the bunch, would be the big bot to be release by HasTak

LOL!

I did wrote on my first post here

People once ask me why I became a collector. Because I enjoyed it. A friend once asked me to join him, going overseas for holiday as (his word) it opened up your mind seeing the world, not sticking to this nonsense hobby.

I ask him, after his trip, what is left aside from few crappy photos? Me, I can get my money back if i sell everything, consider this as converting my money into assets. By the way, No, 3 days trip doesn't make you an insightful person, nor 'opened to the world'.

And my brother saw this on 9gag

It made my day

Generations Hoist Image Reveals Robot and Vehicle Modes with Tow Winch

Seems like whenever Generations line re-started, I'm fully satisfied. Hasbro previously announced the continuation of the line with Metroplex, Blitzwing, Springer, Orion Pax and Trailcutter

1st quarter of 2013

In a blink of an eye, 3 months of 2013 has passed, didn't even realize it. Aside of marriage stuff, collection wise, been narrowing down in terms of 3rd party release and focusing more on the leftovers of Henkei/United to complete all the molds.

These (and a few more) are the ones from this pass couple of months

not in pic : United Warpath, United Stepper, Henkei Astrotrain

A good start, won't you say?

Ever-growing

Been quite busy lately, haven't had a time to do any reviews. Plus, I haven't received most of the newer releases yet including TFC Uranos's Blackbird, Planet X Genesis, Toyworld, Aurora, etc.

However I've been doing quite excellent in terms of my Henkei/United hunt, since I decided to start collecting them, been able to get Henkei Inferno, United Grapple, Henkei Hound and Henkei Prowl. Waiting for next month budget for my Ganbo Exclusive Thrust and Dirge together with Henkei Ramjet.

One thing I've noticed that collecting the classics line is kinda exhausting especially when you haven't start when it began. Everynow and then, you have new releases in front of you, old releases to get and 3rd party releases that doesn't make it easier

The newly announce E-Hobby Exclusive United Magnificus

Despite all that, I'm getting married in 2 months!

Clash of the Titans

These few months had been so kind, I've gotten a lot of the figures that I aimed. To name a few, United Artfire, United Stepper, Botcon G2 Breakdown, Toyworld Grindrod and a lot more. However, I'm pretty far behind on my photo sessions, need to catch up as well as post the older ones. But before that, enjoy The Clash Of The Titans!

Project Uranos - Mix & Match

Well, this isn't neseccary but just for fun, here's Eagle and Phantom with Hercules

Mutation?

As you can see, leg that's form by Eagle is abit more longer than of Hercules (thus the thigh is away from each other to match the height). And extending Fireflight's arm mode can match up Hercules's Rage of Hercules set (although a bit skinny)

It's to early to judge, can't wait for the rest of the team

Whose are theseeee???!!!

Busy week~

Been busy weeks, haven't gotten to spend extra time with my fiancee, hope today can take her for a walk and show her a good time, owe her that much

Did a cover of Canon Rock months ago, played that one time only

Haven't been playing guitar much nowadays, maybe will start when all things cleared out

My office will be having our "2012 Annual Dinner" today (Yes, they're late). Got me thinking, been working here for 3 years (2013 will be the fourth year) and this is the first time I won't be coming alone.

Thanks princess
