Transformers Legacy Leader Class Dragon Megatron - Pictorial Review

I think this is a fairly awaited figure from Legacy. From my observation the appeal of Beast Wars characters not as good as the core G1 releases (by not much) but I've seen considerable interest for this.

With the release of BW Inferno, the original lineup for Predacons and Maximals are complete, understandable that they ventured further. But skipping Transmetal and going directly to Transmetal 2 seems a bit weird. Possibly due to 1) POTP already released his counterpart and 2) to venture farther away then 'another T-Rex' albeit it's not really the same.

Alt Mode

Personally I think Hasbro gave more attention in doing the BW characters in terms of detailing, more than characters from other series (the same case as MP). However, I'm still surprised by how good this turns out.

The detailing are nicely done and the paint app are gorgeous. The vibrance of the purple really pops but at the same time blends well.

The wings are made out of multiple blades joint at the based so you can fold them in and out. The bendable plastic used is not something I remember seeing much on other release.

There's no issue of stability and the joints are good enough to hold his weight in most poses. He comes with a flame effect that can be attached inside his mouth.

The articulation is good considering it is just a beast mode. Segments of his neck and tail are connected via ball joints so get a lot of poseability from those.

To get the idea of how big he is, here he is side by side with Legacy BW Megatron, the previously biggest of both Maximals and Predacons.

Robot Mode

Transformation wise, it's fairly simple. The obvious simple parts are the lower body. The transformation of the upper body is generally intuitive.

Kibble wise, there's a fair amount but not being obstructive to the robot mode.

The headsculpt is nicely done and the overall paint app are clean. Kudos for not using faux claws on the chest. On my copy, there's a gap on the crotch in robot mode (where it separates in beast mode)

Articulation wise he's above average. One might guess he doesn't have waist swivel due how he looks like. But yes, it exist. The left hand movement while good in beast mode, can be considered fairly limited as a robot due to the range of movement at the ball joints.

Size wise, he's almost a head taller than BW Megatron. I really don't have any reference on this but I think that looks good enough.

Of all the "Neo-Beast Wars" releases, safe to say that this is the best so far. From the design, quality and paint app, all are top notch. Room for improvement? Better joints for the left hand and better crotch peg (might just be my copy though). That's about it.
