Transformers Studio Series SS86 Commander Class Ultra Magnus - Pictorial Review

I can't say that I've been waiting for this for quite some time as I generally have a rule to not 'upgrade' my existing figures (as it would be an endless cycle of buying the same figure). No excuse for getting this. I have display for my Movie 86 fig (with Kingdom Magnus) and 1 display for Headmaster series.

I'm bumping my Kingdom Magnus to the Headmaster series so technically I don't have a duplicate figure

In Package

SS86 Ultra Magnus is the first Commander Class figure under the SS lineup (both live action movie SS and SS86) and the 2nd Commander class of the year after Armada Optimus Prime.

It seems like pattern recently is 2 Commander class per year with last year Motormaster and SG Jetfire.

Ultra Magnus (UM) comes in a windowless box with a very well done artwork of him, based on the 86 Movie (I'd guess it's the scene where the Autobots are escaping Galvatron's attack)

Transformers Studio Series Bumblebee Movie SS-82 Ratchet

Moving on to the last of the trio. Thinking out loud, it's funny that this is the first normal release Ratchet that's easily available, locally, for quite some time. Siege Ratchet was imported by Toy R Us here, at higher price point. And the only way for us to get the Galactic Odyssey Ratchet was to import from US.

I'd say he is a Cybertronian truck.. Yeah let's go with that

Transformers Studio Series Bumblebee Movie SS-81 Wheeljack

Continuing on, the next figure that we'll look into, Wheeljack.

Transformers Studio Series Bumblebee Movie SS-80 Brawn

Let's go ahead an see some of the releases that were quite hyped, from the Studio Series Bumblebee Movie line. We'll start with Brawn

To recap, while Bumblebee movie itself was a decent attempt, compared to the 2 movies prior, everyone would agree that the opening Cybertronian war is epic. Since then fans had been hoping for these reimagined G1 characters to be released.

Transformers Studio Series SS86 Voyager Wreck-Gar - Pictorial Review

As far as mainline goes, I personally think SS86 is the most interesting line compared to the others. While it is disappointing that they share the same line as movie Studio Series (smaller number of releases compare to they having their own specific waves), the waits are always worth it.

Coming up next, Voyager Wreck-gar

Glorious, just like how I remembered him. This is the 3rd release of Wreck Gar since G1, after TFA and Generation.

Transformers Studio Series SS-73 Grindor & Ravage

Next is for figure that almost nobody waited for. Never had discussion with people and they say "You know what I've been waiting for? SS Grindor"

Nevertheless, here he is, with Ravage

Alt Mode

Just like the ROTF Legend and Voyager class releases before, SS Grindor is a straight repaint of Blackout, transforming into an MH-53 Pave Low
