Transformers Yolopark G1 Optimus Prime

New year's eve, another year passing us by. I'm closing this year with another review, Hasbro Exclusive Transformers Yolopark AMK PRO G1 Optimus Prime 20cm model kit, courtesy of Hasbro Singapore and Hasbro Malaysia.

In Package

Right of the bat. Picture of the figure on the box, in a really good pose, not artwork. This alone caught my attention. So simple yet practical.

It comes in a windowed box where you can see the unassembled figure. The overall box deco is very bright, shiny and rich, again, capturing my attention.

The figure comes with few accessories. First is the instruction booklet, detailing how to assemble. Relatively simple.

This version comes with a blaster, energon axe, display backdrop and stand. The backdrop is not included with the Diecast release of the figure and with different stand.

Accessory-wise, he comes with a different version of the same item compared to the diecast version. So it's just a matter of preference.

Robot Mode

Assembling the figure is not an issue, can't think of any of the steps that are particularly hard.

And result is great. It's like he came right of the cartoon.

From the back to the front, no hollow parts. Something you don't see quite often in official releases these days

Size wise, you can say he's about present leader class (size, not complexity).

Articulation compensating not being able to transform.

I'm not gonna describe all the joints and range of movement. Hopefully it's obvious from the pictures.

He can definitely pull off a lot of his iconic poses from the cartoon.

So far, no issue of the falling apart when you pose him, aside from his crotch pieces that are on ball joints, when you bring his legs too far forward.

Stability - No Issue

Poseability - Great

Joint  - Tight

What does he lack?

The diecast version came with light up eyes but the LED set is taken out of this release (and probably the magnet in his blaster too)

Dead Eyes

Non-transforming TF releases is not something I'm familiar with. Not intimately at least. But as far as the Price/Playability/Quality/Design wise, I can say that he's well balanced.

You can get good articulation with Revoltech Version but price is higher and the design's too Japanese for my taste. Not to mention the risk of oily plastic that happened to old Revoltech releases.

MAS version is good but the sheer size making it not play-friendly. And again, the proportion not G1 too accurate (not that it tried to be)

RED (Robot Enhanced Design) fit the price range but bad articulation and cheap finishing.

ThreeZero version comes with higher price tag and more stylized design. Even if you opted for the diecast yolopark version, it's still cheaper
