Let's start with the review, next up is Collaborative Transformers, Agent Knight, a crossover between Transformers and Knight Rider.
This review is courtesy of Hasbro Singapore and Hasbro Malaysia.
In Package
G1 all the way! Agent Knight (one of my favorite name used for collab release) comes in a G1-themed package, a fitting choice for 40th Anniversary.
Tech Spec, another throwback to G1. What's important is actually at the bottom right corner. Agent Knight is a licensed General Motors custom Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
Imagine this. Being consistence from the first collab release till now. All in G1 theme package. It's not the best but I love uniformity
Alt Mode
Lo and behold! [Custom] Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the KITT that we all grow to love. The alt mode is gorgeous.
The detailing is nicely done, up to the rims and hubcaps (it's worth mentioning that the Pontiac Logo was not on the original KITT). It might not be obvious but he's big, fitting MP Scale lineup
The alt mode comes with flip up [individually] headlights and a light bar for when KITT talks, just like in the series.
The first collab with LED and sound. Personally I think that is the reason why he is bigger. The switch can be seen on the hood, near the LED
The alt mode is generally well-done. Clean paint job, enough detailing and good QC. The alt mode also holds together tight and nicely.
Robot Mode
The transformation to robot mode is fairly easy, even compared to early MP carbots. My complain is the arms tend to pop off at the shoulder's ball joint. Still you can just push them back in.
The robot mode does remind me of MP17 Prowl.
There's no transformation going on at the hood, probably due to the the electronic circuit inside. Agent Knight comes with a wristwatch communicator (like the one used by David Hasselhoff in series), a gun and something that looks like a machinegun.
The headsculpt is nicely done, with a red visor covering half his face.
From the back, there's minimal kibble, just what you'd expect from a carbot.
Articulation wise, he's quite okay, but feels dated. The joints are all tight aside from the issue of the arm popping off when you twist it at a certain angle.
There is no additional set of sounds in robot mode, which is a shame. Also, if only the LED extended to his visor too, that would take the figure to another level.
His deco is quite minimal, consistent with the theme of the alt mode.
Size-wise he's generally a large voyager, which put him in another scale class. Talking about consistency again, if only the other collabs (excluding fig such as X-Spanse and Maverick) are in the scale range.
A nostalgic release, no doubt. And properly executed especially with the inclusion of KITT's sound (even though it's not William Daniels). The figure is decent and fun to play with, but doesn't look like a kid's toy.
Collaborative Lineup is a interesting line to collect. Some releases may not be your cup of tea but I see it's a good nod and a way to 'be in touch' with other pop cultures.
