McFarlane Deluxe Throne Spawn - Pictorial Review

When Deluxe Throne Spawn was revealed, there were mix feelings. While it is a nice throwback to the old McFarlane release, some thought that it's just another Spawn repaint. So, it is worth it?

Let's see

We'll start with the throne. It is made out of a fairly sturdy plastic but some of the parts are soft and bendable, although not as bad as other McFarlane accessories (ie sword, spear etc)

The details given is superb, with some grey highlights on top of the base color. There's almost no parts of this are without sculpted detail.

The red part is the 'cape' for the sitting gimmick of his Spawn's gimmick. The throne is made out of 3 parts (aside from the assembly on top of the throne) however I'm not sure whether you can separate them without breaking.

My initial thought was that he's just a repaint of existing mold but it turns out, he's a completely new one. And personally I like him better than MK11 or Malefik.

He comes with a quarter of a cape, specifically for sitting on the throne. It would've make a lot of difference if he comes with an extra full cape. But, why would that when you can rerelease it later with the full cape and make more money.

The crotch piece is made out of a softer plastic compared to MK11, giving him extra mobility at the hip.

It's a shame that he doesn't come with any other accessories or weapons, limiting his display truly with throne.

Aside from the extra hip articulation, you can see that his arms also have bigger range of motion.

The reason is that the arms are slimmer compared to MK11 and Malefik. He is about the same size as the other 2 but with slimmer, more streamline body.

Now, the main gimmick. How Todd wants us to display him.

He looks great. The cape gimmick works and his design give him such a presence, even when just sitting on the throne.

Like I said, a few more weapons or accessories can do wonder to the overall aesthetics.

I don't usually buy the 'same' figure with added accessories. But this is a good purchase for me personally. While you can debate that it's almost the same as MK11, in hand, he's actually different. And the throne? It works. It's an awesome display piece
